Deep Tissue Therapeutic Massage

Stress, pain, and stiffness, or limited range of motion, are the most common indicators for employing Deep Tissue Therapeutic Massage. These three conditions often limit normal movement and thus prevent adequate circulation of blood and lymph. Poor circulation means less oxygen gets to cells and waste products accumulate. Lack of oxygen [ischemia] and waste products [acids] are both primary producers of tissue irritation. Deep Tissue Massage Therapy works deep into specific areas of the muscles releasing adhesions, restoring circulation, and rehydrating the dry, fibrous tissues. Stretching and joint mobilizations return muscles to their normal resting length.

Zen Shiatsu

Zen Shiatsu is a Japanese form of bodywork based on many of the same principles as traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture. In particular, Shiatsu is based on the idea that there is an animating force called Chi which moves through our bodies (and throughout nature) along very specific channels or “meridians.” When Chi is out of balance or blocked, the stage is set for illness, injury, and chronic pain. Conversely, when Chi is balanced and able to move freely through the body, the body is better able to fight off unwanted pathogens and heal from trauma. Shiatsu encourages and lends support to the body’s natural tendency toward homeostasis and balance. In a Shiatsu treatment the client is fully clothed. Before the session begins we will do a traditional assessment to identify the underlying condition and its relation to any signs or symptoms. We will use mild pressure, stretching, and gentle manipulation to facilitate balance in the meridians most affected. Shiatsu treatments can result in improvement of many maladies. For example, Shiatsu has success in treating: back and neck pain; stress (Shiatsu shows better results than all other modalities at reducing Cortisol levels); cold and flu; headache pain; and as an adjunct to a weight loss program.

Fascial Release

Fascial Realease also known as Connective Tissue Massage [CTM] is a dynamic approach to bodywork that releases broad myofascial restrictions more effectively than any other technique available. CTM relieves chronic tension; increases ease of movement, improves posture, and enhances self-awareness. These results are achieved with remarkable efficiency, providing immediate relief from symptoms without requiring excessive force. Because of this, CTM can benefit almost anyone, and is useful in a wide variety of circumstances ranging from accidents to illnesses to managing the stresses of daily life.

Thai Massage

Thai Massage is believed to have been developed by Jivaka Kumar Bhaccha, physician to Buddha, more than 2,500 years ago in India. Thai Massage is more energizing and rigorous than more classic forms of massage. Thai Massage is also called Thai yoga massage, because the therapist uses his or her hands, knees, legs, and feet to move you into a series of yoga-like stretches. Many people say Thai Massage is like doing yoga without any work. Muscle compression, joint mobilization, and acupressure are also used during treatment. People describe Thai Massage as both relaxing and energizing.
